The web site 888.com has announced the launch of its biggest poker tournament, the World Poker Crown. The tournament began on Tuesday and will end on May 10, 2008. The total prize money for the tournament is $3,000,000. The winner will take home $1,000,000 and the World Poker Crown.

The players have to pay an entry fee for the tournament which is $1000 + $50. Players also have the choice of taking part in satellite tournaments which are being held on PacificPoker.com. The entry fee for these satellite tournaments is a low $1.10.

The prize money of 3 million will get distributed between the top 10 percent of the players. The web site will also be running hourly free roll tournaments and the winner will be able to get a $1050 entry into the main tournament. These events are on every hour, 24 hours a day. Registration for the hourly event starts 30 minutes prior to the tournament start.

Matt Robinson, Marketing Director of 888.com stated that the World Poker Crown was an exciting new tournament. “It is also the biggest tournament we have offered till now to our players. The winner of this tournament has a chance to become a millionaire and a legend,” he said.

The tournament will begin on Saturday, April 26, 2008.
