Grandmother Wins £320,000 Playing Bingo

A 66 year old grandmother has won the sum of £320,000 playing bingo at her local bingo club located at Clifford St, Newcastle.

She won the large sum winning the national bingo games, platinum jackpot prize. The winner has been playing bingo since she was a young girl. She had given up playing the game as she had not won any money for 20 years.

Speaking to the national bingo’s gaming body after her win she said, “I am very happy with the win and I’m still waiting for it to sink in.”

She added, “I first started playing bingo as a young girl. I stopped for about twenty years because I wasn’t winning and then joined Gala Bingo in Byker when it opened. I usually played there about three or four afternoons a week and my previous best win was £300.”

Louise Hewitt, assistant manager of Gala Bingo, said: “It was an excellent atmosphere in the club when she won. Every single person congratulated her and she was totally surprised.”

The winner won the full house on the national bingo game in just 41 numbers, which is the lowest amount throughout all participating bingo clubs. The winner called bingo on the number (90) which is the number that brings with it the huge platinum jackpot prize that is attached to this game.

First the winner won the platinum jackpot prize which stood at £311,966 on the night, plus the national jackpot prize of £6,890, plus the regional prize of 1,220 and Gala Bingo’s own in house prize of £615.
