Powerball Jackpot Grows to $40.5 Million

The Powerball jackpot for the draw to be held on Wednesday has grown to an estimated $40.5 million. Though there were no winners in the draw, 8 lucky winners from Arizona, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota matched all 5 right numbers and won $200,000 each. Furthermore, 471,565 tickets across the US won a total of $4,899,667 in prizes.

The numbers drawn in the Saturday game were 2, 14, 15, 32, 47 and the Powerball was 36. The Power Play multiplier was 3. In other prizes that were awarded in the draw on Saturday were 25 winners that matched the 4 right numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000 each. Three other winners in that prize level, all had purchased the Power Play option, had their winning amount multiplied 3 times to $30,000.

A total of 87,938 winners had their amounts multiplied by 3 on Saturday. The winners were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play a player can multiply their Powerball winnings from 2 to 5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier. Players purchased $22,052,433 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.
