Online Sportsbook Betting on Phelps

Even before the XXIX Olympic Games are set to begin, Online sports book keepers already fear that American swimmer Michael Phelps could leave China with eight gold medals. Phelps, who is a resident of Baltimore, is considered to be the best swimmer in the world and already owns eight medals from four years ago in Athens, six of which were gold. That feat tied a record for medals at a single Olympics that had been held by Soviet gymnast Alexander Dityatin.

The Malta based sporting bets web site Sportsbook.com has put Phelps as the favorite with odds of 1/2500 to win a Gold Medal in the 200 meter freestyle. He is also considered to be a favorite to win in the 100 meter butterfly along with the 200 meter butterfly event. Phelps is considered to be the gold medal favorite in the 200 meter individual medley and the 400 meter individual race. Phelps will also be competing in the 400 meter freestyle relay and the 800 meter freestyle relay. His final race in Beijing will be the 400 meter medley relay.

In other odds released by the site Australian Eamon Sullivan and Frenchman Alain Bernard are listed as co-favorites to win the Men’s 100 meter freestyle while Grant Hackett of Australia is the favorite to win the Men’s 1,500 meter freestyle.
