Bet on the Next Idol at Online Casino

Friday, February 27th, 2009

With the popular TV show American Idol airing all throughout the world and the top twelve contestants being selected next week there are plenty online casinos just waiting to take bets on who will be the next American Idol winner.

Since the show airs live and the votes are taken over a two hour period it is nearly impossible for anything to go wrong and sway one way or the other. People will be placing their bets on their season’s favourites and cheering them on to win with the possibility of taking a win home themselves as well.

The Idol competition is currently at the stage of the top six with three more being selected next week making it the top 9 and then 3 wild card contestants being added throughout the last round in order to form out the final twelve which will compete for the title of American idol.

The show has been a hit and has also been a very popular bet getter at online casinos since they introduced bet placing on the competition. Many people bet on their favourites to make it through. Perhaps betting on the overall favourite would be best but either way it is a fun way to play at an online casino.

If you are looking to place a bet on the competition log on to your favourite online casino that currently takes sports bets and other reality TV show bets and you are likely to find a place where you could place a bet and perhaps even walk away an American Idol winner.

Online Casino Ad Gets The Boot In UK

Friday, February 27th, 2009

An online casino add has garnered quite a bit of attention for it’s content and for the fact that it had to be banned by the ASA, The Advertising Standards Authority.

The ASA, a British government entity who monitors online casino adverts and gambling sites have ordered a withdrawal of online casino Requestabet.com’s ad which compares online gambling to things like investments in stock or real estate, according to several media sources.

The issue around this specific ad is that it depicts gambling as a viable alternative to other forms of financial investments. The ASA has said that these ads are not accurately portraying gambling for what it really is, instead suggesting it is another way to pad your savings accounts.

Media analyst Howard Bunker says that these adds should be seen more as tongue-in-cheek and not for the realism some are claiming they are trying to portray. Bunker says that the advertisement is not actually saying gambling is a great way to get your hands on more money but is in fact illustrating the irony in believing that other forms of investment are safer. Bunker also noted the ASA is missing the obvious humour of the advertisements.

Many are agreeing that advertisements need to be judged in the proper context and that if ads are humorous in nature that their preposterous claims should not be taken seriously. This is also not the first time the ASA has ran into similar issues. Prior to this issue, the ASA had ordered Ladbrokes’ ad to be removed from the airways when they compared the thrills of dangerous activities like swimming with sharks to online gambling.

Online Casino Poker Room Gets a New Rep

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

The newly launched online poker room Aced.com has recently signed a contract with a winner from the WSOP of 2006 main event. Jamie Gold who took home the whopping first prize of 12 million dollars has signed the contract to represent the online casino in future tournaments and poker games on going for an unknown amount of time commencing this year.

The online poker room thinks that it will be great to put a now well known poker face to their online name in hopes of getting more recognition and making themselves a well known and frequently visited website on the list of poker sites around the world.

The controversy between many online casinos and sponsoring live game poker players is that many of them are based out of the US and since online gaming for money is not widely accepted in the US the online casinos and famous poker players sometimes find it difficult to work together.

Poker pros do not like to be put under any scrutiny and thus try to stay away from situations that would create this.

Currently the most popular online poker room that has a enough celebrity names to fill a poker room is Full Tilt poker with names such as Gus Hanson, Daniel Negreanu, Jennifer Harmon and that is just to name a few.

Sites do claim that having celebrity poker pro representation can ultimately increase their popularity and make them a much more profitable company in the long run but there is also a serious amount of money that goes into sponsoring these celebrities and keeping them on the payroll.

Online Casinos About to Deal 25 Billionth Poker Hand

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Online Texas Hold ‘Em poker has been a huge hit in recent times and one of the world’s most popular online casinos, Poker Stars is about to deal the 25,000,000,000th hand in online poker. This just speaks to the calibre of hands that are being played on an hourly basis. Just 18 months prior to this occasion Poker Stars was very happy and pleased to announce that they had dealt the 10 billionth hand in poker on their online poker site at the time.

To celebrate their momentous occasion PokerStars.com online casino has dedicated several promotions in an effort to create excitement around the circumstances. The regular Sunday tournaments such as the Sunday warm up and the Sunday Million Dollar tournament are being increased to a prize pool of 2.5 Million from half of that amount which is usually set to 1.25 Million.

Also, if you are a lucky player that is dealt a millionth and some hand while the countdown to the 25 billionth hand continues you will automatically win a cash prize depending on the table limit that you are playing at the time and your level of VIP status. So a player that is playing at 5-10 limit and a high VIP level has the opportunity to win $7500 just for simply playing their regular game and being at the right place in the right time so to speak.

And this wouldn’t be an occasion if there wasn’t a promotion for winning the 25 billionth hand. No matter what limit the player is playing at, the one to win this milestone hand will take home a whopping $100,000 and entries into 3 of the most desired poker tournaments that will be happening this year.

Microgaming Gaining Many New Online Casinos

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Online casinos are finding it quite easy to switch from one network to another these days as many are trying to choose what the best online gambling software provider would be to host their hopefully profitable online casino. After the move of Doyle’s Room to switch to micro gaming online casino Ladbrokes.com is doing exactly the same thing.

Both Micro gaming and Ladbrokes.com have announced that the online casino will be switching to the Micro gaming network. The online casino is currently one of the most popular sports books that is available to the general public online.

The online casino is looking for better solutions for their online customer base and is hoping for a seamless transition and better user interface and selection.

Players can rest happy knowing that the transition will not affect them in the slightest and the company will create and even better experience than before.

Micro gaming was actually in a fear of losing several of their online casinos in recent times because they were mandated to remove any and all US online casino players in total. This created a large fear from online casinos around the world and many were ready to through in the towel. Recent legislation in the US has allowed Micro gaming to be back in action and they are hopeful for a very strong year.

With the laws changing and more change on the horizon in the US it looks as though both online casinos and online gambling software providers are likely to get exactly what they want. The only thing left to do is let the process play out and wait to see if their wishes come true.

$32 Million Dollars paid out by Online Casinos

Monday, February 9th, 2009

The websites Ultimatebet.com and Absolutepoker.com are responsible for awarding players with over 32 million dollars in bad beat jackpots since the program by CEREUS was started in June of 2007.

The company collects fifty cents for each hand that is played at any table at either site that qualifies to participate in a bad beat jackpot. The fifty cents are collected until a bad beat jackpot is hit and they that money is distributed among the players that are in the hand and sitting at the table at the time that the hand is hit.

In order to qualify for the bad beat jackpot to be hit a player must be in the hand and be dealt to of the qualifying card. In order to win the money the player must be beat by four of kind of eights or better and must also have a certain minimum amount of money in the pot at the same time.

Everyone at the table that witnesses the hand will be paid an even share of the money and the person that is beat will get the most money, the person that actually wins the hand by poker rules will win the second largest amount and the rest will go to the others at the table.

The largest amount the CEREUS has ever paid out is $325,212 going to one singles player, all for getting the right cards and playing them at exactly the right time. The jackpot is reset every time and continues to grow until it is hit again. The odds of having this combination of cards are actually very small and very unlikely but it has happened to the tune of $32 Million dollars simply because of the quantity of hands that are played.
