New Fear for Online Casinos: The iPhone
Many pieces of technology are much smarter and faster than the human mind these days. One of those things just happens to be a little hand held PDA called the iPhone. The newest phenomenon with the iPhone has been random applications that can be added to the handset in order to entertain the individual user. Applications range from those that have games to those that turn the phone into a ruler to those that count cards at a casino. The last is the one that is creating the problems for online casinos.
The land based casinos across the US have already banned the iPhone at most gambling establishments. The card counting software is so high-tech that even the cameras in the casino cannot detect what is going on so the casinos had to ban the device altogether. Unfortunately, the online casinos cannot do the same as there is no way for an online casino host to tell whether someone is using an iPhone or anything else for that matter on the other end of the computer screen.
Since the new iPhone application has surfaced to the mainstream market membership in online casinos has increased and the number of those playing blackjack has increased as well. Card counting while not illegal is a way that players turn the odds of blackjack in favor of themselves versus the standard which is in favor of the casino.
Online casinos must now put their heads together and think of the next steps that they can take in order to stop these offenders from taking them for everything that they could possibly be worth. There is no word yet on what the outcome of this maybe and what the results will bring.
