While it is absolutely no secret that the economy was experiencing a rather large downfall over the last year, not all industries were directly affected. The online casino is one of those lucky industries that did not feel a direct affect from any negativity in the economy or any other outside factors.

Funny enough, when we speak of online gambling we do not always group it with all other forms of gambling. Gambling at Land based casinos for one was affected in so many ways. Casinos that were surrounded by hotels and were considered part of the travel and tourism industry were hit quite hard. Other casinos that were stand alone business were also affected in a negative way and basically all aspects of gambling other than internet gambling had taken a hit.

The online casino industry and analysts that watch the economy closely cannot put their finger on the reason that this is happening. You would think that if people are gambling less at land based venues than the same would go for online casinos as well- but stats show that this really isn’t the case and no one really knows why.

The online casino industry continues to grow at a rapid pace. There are new online casinos and affiliates to the casinos that are popping up on a weekly if not a monthly basis.  It will be interesting to see what happens in the industry should the US legislation on internet gambling pass but until then there is great competition in the industry and many people trying to break into it at the present time!
